SKY – marketing placement opportunity

You now have the opportunity to join them on an 11-month sandwich placement, offering exposure to the complete marketing mix.

Starting in autumn 2010, you’ll be in for a challenging but rewarding 11 months – experiencing different elements of our marketing business.

Placements could include one of the following: Brand Marketing, Research, Direct Marketing, Online Marketing, Trade Marketing, Product Marketing, Strategic Product Development, Corporate Affairs and PR as well as many others.

You should also expect to spend some time in our call centre and out with our home installation engineers – after all, getting to grips with what our customers want will be a key part of your role.

A confident communicator, you’ll love solving problems and believe you’ve the potential to go far in a business where the only limits are your ambition.

As we’re big believers in collaboration, you’ll need to be a natural team player with a desire to learn from those around you.

You should already have a passion for marketing, so you’ll be studying for a marketing or business related degree with the option to take a sandwich placement.

Proctor & Gamble’s competition to attract Gen Y

Global consumer brand company P&G is launching an interactive online competition to reach out to university students as part of its attraction strategy.

Do you have a 2.2 and “exceptional abilities”?

Thousands of graduates are denied the opportunity of working with top companies because they don’t have a 2.1 degree. Increasingly automated recruitment processes use the 2.1 or above as a filter to reduce the number of graduates that can pass the first stage of their graduate selection process. Hoping to work in the public sector, then be realistic

I was talking recently to a final year student who is reading Archaeology at a top 10 UK university. He had applied to join the Foreign Office stream and fancied working abroad. He liked the idea of travel to the Far East; China interested him but he hadn’t actually been there. I enquired about his language skills and it transpired that he had a GCSE Grade B in Spanish. I explained the obvious point that he would be competing against people with highly developed language skills and UK citizens who were fluent in Mandarin. This did not deter him. More »
