Despite attaining a First from a top university, having good work experience and several notable extra-curricular achievements at university and school, I graduated without a job. I had received a string of rejections from employers and little idea of where I had gone wrong during the recruitment process. At this point I decided I couldn’t take the risk of similar failure during the next recruitment cycle, and so contacted Graduate2Success. I was assisted through every step of the application process, from writing cover letters and online forms through to the interviews themselves. The knowledge of how the recruitment process ‘really’ worked put me in an infinitely better prepared situation compared to the year before. Before our session, I found it extremely hard to talk about myself and my achievements, and had never thought about how to manage an interview. The session boosted my confidence hugely, and taught me how to structure answers to interview questions, and how to lead the interview towards what I wanted to talk about. I am delighted as I applied for two graduate trainee jobs with global companies (L’Oreal and WPP) and was offered two jobs. My dilemma was deciding which one to take!

We all know how difficult it is to find internships, work placements and jobs in the current economic climate. Even as a student at the London School of Economics, I was struggling to find myself an internship in the corporate sector of London. Banks barely seemed to be hiring and consultancies were uninterested in what I or many of my peers had to offer.

As intelligent students at one of the country’s leading academic institutions, we wondered where we were going wrong. Diana helped me to think about the thought processes of interviewers and to present myself in a fashion that best demonstrates my personal strengths. The time spent in coaching sessions with Diana allowed me to relax in interviews, to dispense with usual graduate interviewee triteness, and ultimately to take chances as they came.

I don’t think it was any coincidence that I landed the role I wanted a few weeks after the training. I’ve been happily at the same firm for two years now and I’m still using the advice given in various aspects of my current job.
